Fellowship Overview

The Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) Fellowship at The Brooklyn Hospital Center is a three-year training program designed to prepare physicians for leadership roles in reproductive medicine, academic scholarship, and clinical innovation.

The program offers a comprehensive educational experience that integrates high-volume clinical training, advanced assisted reproductive technology (ART), robust research opportunities, and dedicated faculty mentorship.

Our fellowship is committed to developing highly skilled clinicians who will contribute to advancing the field of reproductive medicine. Fellows train in a collaborative and supportive academic environment that emphasizes individualized learning, progressive responsibility, and the development of strong clinical judgment. The program’s structure is designed to ensure fellows gain broad exposure to the diagnosis and management of complex reproductive endocrine disorders, infertility, and advanced fertility treatments. ​

Clinical training includes extensive hands-on experience through direct mentorship with faculty at Kofinas Fertility Group, a high-volume assisted reproductive technology center known for its expertise in complex infertility care and innovative treatment approaches. Fellows will gain comprehensive experience in ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), fertility preservation, recurrent pregnancy loss evaluation, and the management of conditions such as Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS, formerly known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, or PCOS) , diminished ovarian reserve, and endometriosis. Training includes exposure to advanced reproductive procedures, ultrasound-guided interventions, and the interpretation of reproductive laboratory data. The program also emphasizes and provides extensive training in advanced laparoscopic reproductive surgery including laparoscopic myomectomy and surgical treatment of severe endometriosis. ​

​In addition to clinical excellence, the program places a strong emphasis on research and scholarly development. Fellows will participate in a structured research curriculum designed to support meaningful contributions to the REI literature. Fellows will have access to a robust research infrastructure, mentorship, and opportunities to design and conduct clinical research projects. Participation in national meetings, manuscript preparation, and presentation of scholarly work is strongly encouraged throughout the fellowship.

Upon successful completion of the three-year fellowship, graduates will be well prepared for independent practice in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in both academic and private practice settings. Alumni of the program will leave equipped with the clinical expertise, research foundation, and leadership skills necessary to shape the future of reproductive medicine.
